BRASS décor FOR CENTRAL CITY TOWER
It was a great honor for us to be part of the Best Office Awards 2019 nominated public area redesign project for the Central City Tower corporate center. The redesign concept was developed by Nikolai Milovidov of UNK Project architectural studio.
It is a pleasure to observe how well the Brass Workshop’s decorative brass partitions, brass finishing on doorframes and elevator doors, and brass mirror frame match the exclusive furnishings by SOFTLINE, B&B Italia, Pedrali, LaCividina, Arper, as well as the Z1Lighting and PAOLO CASTELLI lighting fixtures.
The Brass Workshop was required to produce its top work on the entirety of the design solutions, and to do so within a tight time-frame that had our team working nights and weekends. The corporate center operated without any inconveniences throughout the project.
The grand 2.5×1.5m mirror frame has no visible fittings or joints. The welding joints on the brass were brushed, polished and patinated, so the frame looks solid and integral.
Sixty seven polished and patinated brass tubes were used in the decorative partitions. The job brief required that the decorative brass partitions be mounted on the floor with no other support. The Brass Workshop engineers came up with a decorative frame solution that, combined with the brass doorframe and door, would lend the necessary strength to the 3.5m tall brass partition structure.
Brass cladding was applied on in-service elevator doors for the first time in this project. The brass plating of an elevator door 2m high and 0.55m wide could only be completed at the Brass Workshop facility. However, all elevators could not be taken out of service at the same time, not even for a weekend. Working together with the general contractor and corporate center owner, we planned a schedule whereby we would dismantle the elevator doors, ship them to the Brass Workshop, complete the brass plating, return and reinstall.
All fittings are concealed, and there is only a single joint per unit on the brass elevator doorframes and other doorframes in the hall, which are 3m tall and 1.5m wide. The brass frames of the elevator doors are decorated with brass floor indicator plates.
We wish prosperity for the Central City Tower corporate center and new accomplishments and awards for UNK Project!
