BRASS TRIMMED MARBLE TABLES FOR MOLLUSCA RESTAURANT at central market

What makes a great restaurant? Why is one restaurant always packed while some others are empty in the same neighborhood? Obviously this is not all about location: the successful and failing restaurants are often situated next door to one another.

We at the Brass Workshop are convinced that a restaurant is defined by its atmosphere, and the atmosphere to a significant extent depends on the interior decoration.

Brass is an atmospheric metal that lends a feeling of warmth and a touch of luxury to any interior. Brass mixes remarkably well with marble stone: cold marble offsets the warmth of brass. The combination of marble and brass is the soul of the neo art deco style.

Kept on the back shelf for decades, marble and brass are back in the limelight, inspiring new décor ideas. Beloved of architects, designers and decorators, no wonder so many interior decoration choices are centered around marble and brass.

Respect for marble stone as a finishing choice never wanes. The allure of this precious and elegant material is as high as it ever was.

A symbol of luxury and class, marble stone is the piece de resistance of a modern interior. The longevity and look of natural marble, what with its color nuances and veins, make it an unmatched material for building and decoration.

The colors black and white have perennial value. White marble adds a touch of chic, black marble underscores awareness of the fashions of the day, and green marble is a choice for the more daring decorator.

Brass conjures up a lustrous and elegant ambience unlike any other.

The golden finish on brass agrees perfectly with wood, velvet, marble or fabric. For an atmosphere both comfortable and up-to-date, it is advisable to match brass with darker colors running the gamut to black. The black and gold combination is the recipe for more light and more class. But there is even more refinement in mixing brass with lighter hues, up to and including the color white.

In this project, our job was to plate the bottom parts of the marble tabletops and trim the edges with brass on a number of marble tables designed and manufactured in collaboration with #unizaro for the MOLLUSCA restaurant at Central Market in Moscow.

We plated the rims and the undersides of the marble tables with patinated polished brass. All joints on the brass parts were welded and polished into the perfect semblance of a solid piece of brass. The brass parts were given a protective coat to prevent oxidation and conserve the original look for years.
